| FLEET CHALLENGE - PARTICIPANT
On June 21st, 2000, three levels of government came together for the first Toronto Smog Summit, one in a number of on-going efforts to address the problem of air pollution.
Among several other commitments, the City of Toronto is enforcing a 3 minute idling bylaw and approved funding for 17 different projects aimed at reducing smog and greenhouse gas emissions in our city. One project, the Repair Our Air - Fleet Challenge, aims to reduce idling within the City of Toronto, through a public awareness campaign involving public and commercial organizations with large fleet car operations.
The Repair Our Air - Fleet Challenge Participants , are challenged to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and maintenance costs by 20% as proposed by the Public Health Department. The winning team will receive public recognition through an awards ceremony, for their contribution to improving Toronto’s air quality.
As leaders in the Taxi-cab Industry, Co-op Cabs intends to win the Fleet Challenge Award for our category and is committed to supporting other manageable initiatives aimed at improving the air quality of our great city.
