A wonderful letter we received regarding one of our many outstanding drivers...
"Dear General Manager, Co-op Cabs Toronto,
I would like to give a special commendation to Drago Djacic for his kindness, generosity, and commitment to service. On January 28, 2012, Drago was working as a driver for Co-op Cabs, and he picked my mother and me up at Nassau and Spadina and drove us to 210 Victoria Street, Toronto so that we could meet a friend. After we got out of his taxi, my mother and I realize that her purse had been left in the backseat of his cab. My mother's purse contained all of her identification, along with all of the photos of my father before he passed away last year. While the identification cards and bank cards were quite valuable to my mother, the pictures were even more so – irreplaceable really. We contacted Drago by phone (I remembered his name, and I found his home phone number in the directory on the Internet), and he said he would gladly return my mother's purse. We arranged the time, and he returned my mother's purse on Monday, January 30, and my mother and I were greatly relieved. We would like to give Drago a special commendation for service, kindness, and generosity.
We hope Co-op Cabs will acknowledge his professional service and integrity.
Sincerely,
Russ

TODAY IS THE DAY! The UN International Year of Co-operatives, officially launches in Canada today, Thursday, January 12, 2012.
From Mark Ventry, Co-op Community Manager, Ontario Co-operative Association:
"We are poised to make Canadian co-operative history today as co-operatives, credit unions, and supporters in 14 cities in every province and territory across the country simultaneously join together in celebration, and through web technology.
In Ontario, provincial celebrations will take place in Guelph, beginning with a flag-raising at Guelph City Hall. Most of the event takes place indoors, minimizing any chance of a weather disruption. You are welcome to join us at 11.30am as the celebrations begin.
The national launch event will take place at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre from 11:30am to 1:30pm EST. The Ottawa event will feature a live webcast starting at 12:30pm EST, whichall regions will be linking to. Any computer in the world with internet access can hook up to the live feed by logging onto the webcast at this link: http://webcasts.welcome2theshow.com/canada2012live-endirect
The webcast will include remarks by Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of The Co-operators (live from Calgary) and Monique Leroux, president and CEO of Desjardins (live from Lévis, Quebec) as well as the premiere of a co-operative musical work by the Montreal group Samajam, who will perform live in Ottawa.

Thanks to Sharon from DDB who sent us this kind letter in response to a donation from Co-op Cabs for their ‘Share DDB’ initiative:
Dear Heather,
What a night! Together with your support and generous donation for our silent auction, the entire DDB family rallied together last Wednesday night for Share DDB – a one-of-a-kind charitable initiative showcasing our company’s culture of creativity – to raise over $15,000 in support of Camp Oochigeas and the James Lee Foundation.
Your special contribution to Share DDB helped to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and cheer that encouraged colleagues, friends and families to dig deep into their pockets this holiday season to give back to the community. Together, we have helped send children affected by cancer to summer camp and supported a scholarship that will benefit up-and-coming creative talent entering the advertising industry.
We know the holidays are a busy time for many of our suppliers and partners, and we can’t thank you enough for your extra special donation to our first annual Share DDB charity event in Toronto. We wish you a merry and blessed holiday season and look forward to our continued partnership in the New Year!
All the best,
Sharon
